Married to Rula Ormsby for 38 years, we have 4 adult children, 3 daughters-in-law, and 10 grandchildren.
I have a Doctorate in Fine Arts from Elam School, University of Auckland (2004) I am considered a renowned Artist, having held art exhibitions nationally, and internationally. I have commissioned many public artworks in numerous private collections, cooperatives, and galleries. Previously, I was the Head of the Department for Te Wananga O Aotearoa for 5 years until the job was disestablished. I was taught by some of the tops, leading Maori Artists with a tutor pedigree chart leading all the way back to 1400AD in the times of Michaelangelo, and Leonardo Davinci.
I made a career change in the health industry approximately 15 years ago and worked for Counties Manukau District
Health Board for 10 years as their Maori Educator for Long Term Conditions. I am a registered NZ Life Coach in Abundance and Break Through Life Coaching, Health Coaching, as a Master Trainer for Stanford and Flinders Long Term Conditions, and in Self-management education, the Kaiaarahi for the Oranga Ki Tua.
My work also extends to include the Lean in Whanau Program, and the Kaimanaaki for Mana Tu Program helping people suffering with
Diabetes and Obesity Papakura Marae, and has for the last 5 years.
Recently, I have resigned from Papakura Marae to do contract work for the Department of Corrections, running 4-week Tu Whatukura programs teaching life skills to men on probation, so that they can pursue major Art projects, Consultancy, and designing NFT digital images. I am a founding member of NDIGI Village Co-op.
